Hello Ladies of Fort Polk,

                Well with Spring Break just behind us and Summer Vacation looming ahead, it seems that life is running as always faster than we can keep up. My year as President is slowly coming to a close and too soon we will all be saying “Good Bye” to close friends and neighbors. And Hello to new ones.

                  For me this will be a bitter sweet time, I hate to see my friends leave, but I anticipate the arrival of friends that I haven’t seen in a very long time. For me the last luncheon was a joyous surprise. Marna our guest speaker was a long time and close friend that I hadn’t had a chance to see in almost 10 years. (See you run into everyone again sooner or later). We had the best time, and talked about old times over wine (too much of it) The last time we had lived at the same post our husbands were teaching at West Point, and we were working on Gold Rush for the OSC. It was fun to reminisce about friends and houses and what the OSC did there vs. here, and Oh my did I ever think I would be President.......I want to thank her for her time here and for the great book that she wrote.

                 Of course the OSC was no where near done for the month by having Marna come and talk, we had an incredible turn out for our first “Lights, Camera, Auction” and thanks to a lot of people and lots of hard work and huge donations ; and an on Post Chaplin (name with held) that spent a very generous $1,300.00 on Charlie Daniels Fiddle , we were able to make about $10,000.00.  That will go towards the Scholarships Fund.
