This year's programs will guide you to a relaxing and entertaining event each month here at Ft Polk. Whether it is meeting someone new from your home state, preparing early for the holidays, or pretending you're in Maui during February for Bingo, this year has something for every curiosity and taste. SEPTEMBER

(General membership meeting and Luncheon)

Home State Lunch!  It was a get-to-know you social luncheon! Our home state spirit decorations were so inventive and fun, !  There was voting and prizes awarded for the best costume and the best decorated "home table".  We had a special guest speaker from Lake Charles who spoke about area attractions. If you missed this luncheon you missed the first, and so far the best luncheon of our year. 

Menu was:

Garden State Salad

Cajun Chicken

Mid-Western Mac & Cheese

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Florida Key Lime Pie

 

Best Costume was awarded to:

Best "Home Table" was awarded to:

OCTOBER

(General membership meeting and Luncheon)

It was a Celebration!  Our focus was creative party ideas.  If you have attended or done a creative party then you know what all it entails for the hostess. We had some great ideas for the future hostess in you.

Menu:

Lasagna

Salad

Garlic Bread

Mixed Fruit Salad

* Our very own Amy worked on cakes for dessert-to go along with our celebrations theme.

 

 

NOVEMBER

(General membership meeting and Dinner)

Pajama Bunko!! Food was comfort food that you would find at a sleep over. We wore our your favorite Pajamas.....sexy, flannel, robes, rollers, etc......Prizes were given.

Menu:

Baked Potato Bar including Brisket
Taco Soup
Brownies with Ice Cream for Dessert

 

 

 

DECEMBER

(General membership meeting and Dinner)

Make It - Bake It - Fake It & Take It:  This was a great opportunity to get some holiday shopping done EARLY! 

At this event we asked that people donate items to be auctioned off as an Operational Fundraiser. We used silent auction style bidding for all of the donated items. Everyone came away with some fun ideas and others left with some good items.

February

 "Aloha Bingo"

Well we dug out our grass skirts! Had Mai Tai's in the dead of winter?  Anyone who brought a non-OSC member (someone that is eligible for membership), got a FREE bingo card.  So it's was a great time had by all.. II heard one member brought 4 friends. wo0oho0o!

Special guest speaker.

Marna Krajeski

Marna wrote Household Baggage: The Moving Life of a Soldier's Wife. In her 2006 book, Marna held up a magnifying glass to Army life and captured the ups and downs, the idiosyncrasies and the inspirations, the enchanting and the exasperating.
